- 1 only
- 2 only
- Both 1 and 2
- Neither 1 nor 2
Answer: b
Explanation:
Nobel Prizes in the fields of Chemistry, Literature, Peace, Physics, and Physiology or Medicine was established as per the will of the Swedish scientist Alfred Nobel in 1895.
By far, only one women-only team has been awarded the Nobel Chemistry Prize for the CRISPR-Cas9 technique.
In 1968, Sveriges Riksbank, Sweden’s central bank, established the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.
The Prize in Economic Sciences is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Stockholm, Sweden, according to the same principles as for the Nobel Prizes that have been awarded since 1901.
As it is not one of the prizes that Alfred Nobel established in his will in 1895, it is not a Nobel Prize.
Q2:

- Global Financial Stability Report
- Global Gender Gap Report
- 1 and 2 only
- 1, 2 and 3 only
- 1, 3 and 4 only
- 1, 2, 3 and 4
Answer : a
Explanation
The World Bank releases the South Asia Economic Focus report and Poverty and Shared Prosperity Report. The latest South Asia Economic Focusreport estimated that India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) can contract by 9.6% in 2020-21.
The latest Poverty and Shared Prosperity Report estimates that Covid-19 will push over 1.4% of the world’s population into extreme poverty. The Global Financial Stability Report is released by the International Monetary Fund.
The Global Gender Gap Report is released by the World Economic Forum.
Q 3:
With reference to Target Rating Points (TRP), consider the following statements and choose the correct option:

- Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) is the national level statutory body for
determination of TRP.
- 1 only
- 2 only
- Both 1 and 2
- Neither 1 nor 2
Answer : d
Explanation
Target Rating Points (TRP) is used to calculate the viewership of TV channels determined by the data from Bar-O-meters placed in selected empanelled households which are representative of different socioeconomic categories of the country.
TRP represents how many people, from which socio-economic categories, watched which channels for how much time during a particular period.
This period is one minute as per the international standards. While watching a show, members of the household register their presence by pressing their separate viewer ID button. This captures the duration for which the channel was watched and by whom and provides data on viewership habits.
Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) is a company registered with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to carry out television ratings in India.
BARC was created in 2010 and jointly owned by advertisers, ad agencies, and broadcasting companies, represented by the Indian Society of Advertisers, the Indian Broadcasting Foundation and the Advertising Agencies Association of India.
Q4:
With reference to Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), consider the following Statements , choose the correct option :

- The GRAP focuses particularly on the regulation of air quality of the metropolitan
regions of India.
- 1 only
- 2 only
- Both 1 and 2
- Neither 1 nor 2
Answer : d
Explanation
Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP):
It was notified in 2017.
The plan was formulated after several meetings were held by Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA) with state government
representatives and experts.
EPCA is a Supreme Court mandated body tasked w ith taking various measures to tackle air pollution in the National Capital Region.
It is prepared for Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). GRAP includes the measures to prevent worsening of Air Quality of Delhi-NCR and prevent PM10 and PM2.5 levels to go beyond the ‘moderate’ national Air Quality Index (AQI) category.
Q5:
Which of the following factors is/are not responsible for the warming of the Arctic?
- Presence of Iodic acid
- Higher albedo
- Changing ocean currents
- 1 and 2 only
- 1 and 3 only
- 3 only
- 2 only
Answer : d
Explanation
A team of scientists have identified iodic acid (HIO3) as a novel driver of new
aerosol particle formation in the Arctic which is responsible for Arctic
Amplification or Arctic Warming. Presence of Iodic acid in the region had not
been observed previously.
These aerosol particles influence the formation of clouds. As these clouds
reflect solar radiation (known as Aerosol Radiative Forcing) but also retain heat
on the Earth’s surface, they have an influence on the warming of the Arctic.
Ocean currents normally bring in warmer water from the Pacific, and colder water
exits out of the Arctic into the Atlantic.
But those currents may be changing because more melting ice is injecting the
Arctic Ocean with freshwater. The missing ice also exposes the surface waters to more wind. This mixes up colder freshwater at the surface and warmer saltwater below, raising surface temperatures and further melting ice.
Change in Albedo: When bright and reflective ice (with more albedo) melts, it gives way to a darker ocean (lowering albedo); this amplifies the warming trend because the ocean surface absorbs more heat from the Sun than the surface of snow and ice.
A high albedo means the surface reflects the majority of the radiation that hits it and absorbs the rest.
A low albedo means a surface reflects a small amount of the incoming radiation and absorbs the rest. For instance, fresh snow reflects up to 95% of the incoming radiation.
