Note- Twenty eight other sites were added to the World Heritage List at the annual meeting in Baku, Azerbaijan, this year,bringing the total up to 1,121 culturally significant sites. England’s Jodrell Bank Observatory, which houses some of theworld’s leading radio astronomy telescopes, is an exciting addition. Other interesting landmarks include natural sites suchas Iceland’s Vatnajökull National Park, cultural sites like the historic city of Sheki in Azerbaijan, and the archaeologicalruins of Liangzhu City in southeast China. The list has only one mixed site (cultural and biodiversity hotspot): the Paraty and Ilha Grande in Brazil. Our pink city, Jaipur, has also made it to the list.
