National Flag

  • Tricolor of saffron, white, and green with Ashoka Chakra in blue at the center.
  • Ratio: 3:2 (length:height)
  • Designed and adopted in 1947.

Display Regulations

  • Governed by the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950.
  • No general restrictions on display by public.

State Emblem

  • Adaptation of Lion Capital of Ashoka at Sarnath.
  • Three lions mounted on abacus with Dharma Chakra and motto “Satyameva Jayatd”.

National Symbols

  • Official seal of the Government of India.
  • Regulated by State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act, 2005.

National Anthem

  • “Jana Gana Mana” composed by Rabindranath Tagore.
  • Originally in Bengali, adopted in Hindi in 1950.

National Song

  • “Vande Mataram” composed by Bankimchandra Chatterji in Sanskrit.

National Calendar

  • Saka Era with Chaitra as the first month.
  • Adopted in 1957 alongside the Gregorian calendar.

National Animal and Bird

  • Royal Bengal Tiger and Indian Peacock.
